Reading & Writing

Open up new langua-cultural opportunities

When do I get to learn how to read and write?

You will learn the letters of Hindi, Urdu, or Punjabi Script during Phase 1, will be oriented to the specific Script workshop and resources of your choice (Hindi, Urdu, or Punjabi) in Phase 2, and encouraged and supported to continue to develop your reading and writing skills as you progress through the program. Developing a deep ability to understand spoken Hindi, Urdu, or Punjabi is foundational in GPA before speaking before reading and before writing. However, we still encourage learners to grow in their reading and writing skills as it can help with pronunciation and later in Phase 6 with self-sustained language growth.

We have developed workshops specific to Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi that use the Growing Participator Approach methods to make learning to read and write in another language fun and effective! While these workshops are designed to be most effective for use within regular language sessions, we do also schedule workshops for people who are interested, but not currently registered.
